Our First Christmas!

Harrington Christmas tree....

Roney Christmas tree....(I'm pretty sure this tree would fill up half our apartment)

We do have a fireplace though! Our cute stockings!!

After going to the Salt Lake Temple, we walked around the temple square lights and took this picture in front of the huge tree inside the Joseph Smith Building

HAPPY NEW YEARS! We didn't do anything too exciting for new years, but we made sure to run to downtown to watch the fireworks go off.

Me? A model? Ok!

I was getting my haircut the other and someone came up to me and asked if I was a model. I laughed and said no, but was very flattered. My time to shine has come! Taylor and I were asked to take part in a photoshoot my cousin was organizing in Zion Nat'l Park. She asked us to be her bride and groom. We spent the weekend in an amazing house that also served as the venue. Brooke Schultz was the photographer and did an awesome job! I was a little sad I didn't get to wear my own wedding dress, but was just happy to help my cousin Kourtney in any way we could. Enjoy!

hApPy HaLlOwBiRtHgIvInG!

Slowly getting back on track! This post was meant for last week, but due to the girl's accident, I felt they were more important to blog about. If you are interested in seeing some graphic pictures of Sage (much too graphic for me), then feel free to check out my mom's blog (kirkandmelanie.blogspot.com).
As newlyweds, Taylor and I have been able to experience some fun events together. These events include halloween, my birthday and thanksgiving, hence, HALLOWBIRTHGIVING!
I have to give a shout out to my Orem High students Alisha Kallunki and Mary Porter for making me these delicious rainbow cupcakes. Alisha made me this cute monster doll that graces my living room couch. Miss the girls, miss the school!
Taylor burst through the front door on my birthday with flowers, balloons and presents in hand. I lit up like a little girl on Christmas. I am a major fan of loud and bright running shoes, so these kicks were custom made for me! The spandex capris were the cherry on top.

Halloween was spent making my junior high students homemade rootbeer and them decorating creepy cupcakes (creepcakes). I wish I took some pictures because I was amazed with what some of the students were able to create. I showed up as a greek goddess and Taylor went to work as a Jimmy John's delivery boy. And yes, totally forgot to capture photos of my delivery boy. Darn! He sure was a cutie-patootie!
I ditched carving a pumpkin this year because I didn't feel like dealing with the mess, so we turned to our paints. I painted these little witch feet and Taylor's pumpkin did not make it on the blog due to his obscene picture. We will leave it at that!

Thanksgiving was with the Harrington's this year and I was dubbed the pie lady. I brought apple pies and enjoyed time spent with Taylor and his cousins. We stuffed ourselves silly and played card games all night. I saw this decorative pie crust when I was preparing one of my school lessons and am dead set on trying this next year!

Count Your Blessings

On November 5th, my four sisters (Star, Sky, Maya, and Sage) were in an awful car accident that should not have spared one life. This experience has taught me that miracles do happen. Heavenly Father truly has a purpose for each and everyone of us. Star, Sky, and Maya received no injuries beyond scratches and bruises. Sweet Sage has quite a few injuries such as a broken arm, elbow, back and nose, severed eye tendon and numerous bruises, cuts and scrapes. She is now home recovering and continuing her education with a tutor who comes to the house each day.
I was able to go home last weekend and spend time with my amazing sisters. It was so good to see their beautiful faces and give them lots and lots of hugs. It was overwhelming to come home to a house full of flowers, dinners and treats. My home ward has been so incredible to my family and has done a great job making sure that they are taken care of.

The past two weeks I have spent a lot of time reflecting on my blessings and what my purpose is here on earth. I am so grateful that my sisters are alive and well and I know that this experience has brought us closer as a family.

Count your blessings!!!

PAST DUE!!!

Yes, I know, it has been much too long since my last post. I suppose this happens when you begin student teaching and LIFE IS CRAZY! I seriously had no idea that this would be so hard. I wake up at 5am everyday and get home between 5pm-7pm. I can't complain though because my hardworking husband gets home AFTER me. After being a Jackson Bronc, I now am an Orem Tiger! I love the students at this school and have had an awesome 6 weeks with them. Next week I begin yet another 6 weeks at Springville Junior High.

In the small window of spare time that Taylor and I have, we've cruised down to Provo to support our Cougars!

and the Hogle Zoo! I was a little upset that I didn't get to see a Zebra, but Taylor had a blast playing with all of the toys in the souvenir shop.

My favorite holiday is right around the corner! I LOVE Halloween. Maybe it's because my birthday is in October, I am not sure, but there is just something about this holiday that I just love. Being a newlywed, I am excited to find fun couples costumes for Taylor and I. I was thinking Prince William and Kate Middleton??? Any ideas??? Oh, and you cannot forget that Halloween is all about watching THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

WEDDINGS: They are the best of times and the worst of times

Shall the bad news go first? Sure! I had the genius idea of taking most of our wedding pictures after our actual wedding, so the big day wouldn’t be totally chaotic. Last week we took wedding pictures round 2. I booked a hair appt at some random salon in downtown and it turned out to be a complete and utter DISASTER. I showed my hair stylist pictures of my hair on my wedding day and told her to try and emulate it. She appeared to have a lot of confidence, which gave me a lot of confidence in her and her abilities. As she was doing my hair, all I could see was the hair she had done around my face, which looked good. When she finished up, she gave me a hand mirror and spun me around really fast so I could barely see the back. It looked good from what I saw, but apparently I didn't take a good enough look. Taylor picked me up and was mortified, telling me that my hair looked like a bicyclist racing helmet....

awful, awful, awful

Ok, moving on to the good news, our friends Shelly and Andrew Angus got married!!!

After two months we finally got our wedding pictures back, woohoo!!!!!!
